one of the difficulties in travelling through Wyde and Fyre is that you never know what you will meet - or whether you will be safe. today out of the Wyre loomed this prehistoric lizard which was making its way downstream at low tide. fortunately l had the cover of the high banking and was able to get this shot by hiding in the brambles which proliferate on the banking. if he saw me he made no indication or move to follow but l felt lucky to get away with my life. it was lucky that l was on my way to the opticians or l would not have travelled that way at all!!
