Black path
A long and interesting walk today with S, C and N. We started from Middlesbrough, taking in the Temenos sculpture, clock tower and views of the Transporter Bridge. Then we followed the Black Path to Redcar. This was formerly used by workers heading to the industrial and shipping areas along the Tees. There is still much industry on view, both current and long disused. With a former engineer and a former industrial chemist in the group we were not short of information and memories of incidents at work. The path is now part of both the Teesdale Way and the national coast path and when we arrived at Coatham Marshes Nature Reserve and walked along the beach we certainly felt the sea breeze.
