Walking in the Footsteps of Dinosaurs
We headed up and around the Trotternish peninsula today on Ms H's "request day". First up was The Fairy Glen to the east of Uig which we had not been to before, it was like a mini version of the rock formation of the Quiraing. I liked the story of tour guides making up tales about forming rock circles and encouraging vistors to lay more rocks, then the locals come along and remove them all... it's magic enough without made up magic!
After another late lunch, we headed up to the top and around then south past the Quiraing where we may return to, and stopped at Staffin where 18 dinosaur footprings had been found. You have to search for them, there are no signposts, but we knew they were this 3 toed shape, next to Arlo's paw in the centre photo - we think we found 2 or 3. The footprints were once in mud when this part of Skye was in the southern hemisphere!
During such a short day trip it was amazing to see such varying geology and landscapes.
