A Teachable Moment

This morning two songbirds flew into the window. It took quite a while for one to recover and fly off, however, the other didn't survive.

When Bella saw the bird, she said let's get "glubs".  Several months ago I rescued a Downy Woodpecker, and she remembered I wore gloves. Bella wore her colorful winter "glubs" and held the bird examining its feet, wings, and face for quite a while. 

Unseasonably hot here today, although cooler than the past couple of days. We will engage in some water play later today; a fun way to beat the heat!
