Why did the pheasant cross the road?

Well actually he was just standing in the road, and didn’t want to cross at all, until I tried to drive around him! He was looking a bit raggedy and seemed to have lost most of his tail.
Today started cloudy but soon cleared up and got sunnier and warmer as the day went on. It was supposed to rain this evening, but now that looks doubtful, so will probably start just as I’m about to set foot out of the door tomorrow!
