Mrs. Cardinal - Up Close and Personal

I took a walk after work and stumbled across this female Northern Cardinal in a blue spruce tree. I slowly approached it thinking it would fly away. She just sat there looking at me and when I finally stopped, I was less than 5 feet away. There was a branch separating us and made it impossible to get a clear full body shot so I aimed as high as I could so that I could get most of her upper body in the picture. Then cropped out the part with the branch to get this result. Note that the white backdrop is actually the siding of my neighbors house which worked out quite well for this picture... : ))

I am thrilled that I was able to get so close to one of these beautiful birds. I've mentioned before that they are generally skittish (at least around me).
