WILDLIFE
I went for an insect walk along my favourite path at RSPB Saltholme today and was well rewarded with some lovely things (in my opinion!). I like the Scorpion flies because they always photograph well, really sharp and striking. There were more butterflies about - I saw quite a few Wall Browns, my first Common Blue of the year, some Dingy Skippers (extra) and a Brown Argus (extra), as well as a Long-jawed Orb-weaver spider (extra), some damselflies including a Northern damselfly (extra) and some White-lipped Banded snails which looked as though they'd been varnished (extra). A pair of swans flew right over my head and there were plenty of small birds about, but the creepy-crawlies definitely won the day today.
