Spatial awareness!
We had such a good day yesterday at Shugborough Estate National Trust.
Hot and sunny.
I downloaded and printed off some activity sheets for the grandchildren to use from their web-site.
There was a Nature Bingo sheet with different things to spot which they all enjoyed. And another one to spot the monuments and unusual buildings around the Estate.
It was the former home of the Earls of Lichfield. The imposing mansion is also open now once more to visitors at set times. But we spent our time in and around the parkland, and the children enjoyed the Woodland Adventure playground along the way, as you can see! Passing by sheep with lambs, grazing cows, and swans on the bank of a pool. A very protective male patrolling the territory guarding the young cygnets.
We took a picnic which we ate seated under a huge umbrella in a courtyard area, watching swallows swoop and dive overhead as they zoomed in to one of the old barns to feed their fledging youngsters.
This was punctuated by a noisy cockerel which was situated nearby in another corner of one of the buildings.
It was a perfect summer day.

The photo in extras is the kids at lunch ticking off things they had seen on their sheets.
Our youngest granddaughter, 2, loved the animals, especially a long horned cow near the fence by one of the paths. She spent ages talking to it! Noting its eyes, ears and nose. There were two, both pregnant with calves, so they were in a smaller field by themselves.
A cooler cloudy morning today.
