St Francis and the Iris

Back in 1990 when I visited Vita Sackville West's gardens in Kent, England I learned about the idea of creating garden "rooms".  Much much later I attended a lecture on garden design given by P. Allen Smith, an American landscape architect, who also favored this idea.  This is my garden room.  I really like the idea of separating areas in the landscape.  There is a sitting corner that is my destination most days and right now I share the space with the dragonflies which have finally arrived.  My little corner of peace.
