Mallard

From the movement in the wings, the sharp head and delicious background, I think this is probably one of the best shots I’ve ever taken and processed. That said, although I realise this look is effective, I don’t really like it that much! And that’s got me thinking about my reasons for doing photography. I feel I get most pleasure from the challenge of it all, from being out there using the camera to painstakingly post-processing and hopefully ending up with something to be proud of. Quite often that “something” isn’t necessarily what I’d hang on my wall (as with this one) but that’s a minor issue for me… unless it involves flowers and/or still life which I just don’t get, although maybe one day that will change.
