Winter Gulls
I went for a walk down by the river this morning - first time for a couple of weeks as my knee has been playing up. I managed to get all the way round, but took it slowly and the knee still hurt at every step.
It was really cold and bitter in the wind. The buzzards were having to work hard to get anywhere and couldn't find any thermals, so after some flapping, they circled back to the trees on the far side of the river.
My picture shows part of a flock of herring gulls which were sitting by the water's edge as the tide receded. There were a few teal and mallards around, and shelduck further out on the mudflats, but very few small birds in evidence. Probably very sensibly sheltering from the wind!
It was nice to get home for a cup of tea.
