Strike a Pose

I had trouble choosing between two photos of what I think is a whitethroat and the wonderful poppies, all taken this morning at West Runton, so I've added the other two as extras. Another lovely day with just a few more clouds and great to walk accompanied by skylarks singing again. I've just finished watching a fab match between Federer and Cilic and I'm pleased to say Roger won.

Day 444 / Day 18 of Step 3 of Roadmap Easing (for my record only)
Portugal has been moved from the green to amber travel list, no new companies have been added to the green list, and seven countries are being move to the red list from the amber one - all from 4am on Tues 8th June. So travellers returning after then from Portugal will now have to self isolate for 10 days, presumably meaning that lots of people will try to move their flights forward now - this bit annoys me. Labour says there's 50,000 arriving in the UK every day! PHE says that 5,472 cases of the Indian variant were identified in the UK, up 79% from the previous week, and it is now dominant in the UK. Early data suggests there's an increased risk of hospitalisation as well as higher transmission, which all goes to show how quickly the situation could change. There's another emerging variant of concern, the Nepal mutation of the Indian variant. It's not yet know if this is 'vaccine defeating', so caution is being exercised. Bizarrely the WHO said they didn't know about this variant which is behind the travel list caution. The latest surveillance report from PHE says the biggest increase in cases is in people aged 10 to 29, and cases remain highest in the NW. 1m left the furlough scheme between Mar and Apr, but 3.4m remain on it. Railway journeys are at their lowest level since 1872. during the age of steam.
