imbalance

Listening to live broadcast of Mitsuko Uchida playing all eight Schubert Impromptus and thinking of meanings of balance - imbalance - unbalance.  A pianist particularly has to constantly juggle balances of the obvious categories of tempi, dynamics, definition and light but also shifting balances of melody & harmony, sound & silence and risk & assuredness.  Many questions,  and the answers maybe lie within the realm of imbalance rather than balance.  An extraordinary performance, for a special occasion,- one of the first live broadcasts this year with a full audience.
