Dame's Violet

Introduced in the 16th century as a garden flower, this attractive and sweet smelling member of the cabbage family is now widely naturalised. A huge patch near the shore at Phingask appeared to be hist to a hatching of small white butterflies - active in this afternoon's warm sunshine.
