Distant Peaks
This evening's expedition was to photograph Comet PanSTARRS and the moon at sunset. Two photos are posted here on Flickr.
I like this image better.
It shows several mountain ranges in the distance, topped by Kitt Peak which is 50 miles away. View LARGE and you can see eleven of the telescopes at the of the KITT PEAK NATIONAL OBSERVATORY. On the site are 22 optical telescopes and 2 radio telescopes. The telescope that looks like a sliding board is a solar telescope and the largest on the right is the Mayall 4m telescope.
I have been waiting for a long time for an opportunity to photograph Kitt Peak but have been prevented by haze. Tonight it was clear enough for this shot.
