Coming to take us away
Up early, and we got an earlier ferry than we had intended. Fishnish-Lochaline is just ‘turn up and go’ (as is the Corran Ferry). It was another driving day, but punctuated with stops not just for ferries, but for photography here and there. I collected a decent harvest.
We drove around Loch Leven the long way to our lunch stop at the seafood restaurant, but even then had time to sit and ponder the view for a while. I got into a texting conversation with L at that point, which concluded with the booking of a mini break for the three of us on Skye at the end of June. And we were just saying we needed something to look forward to. Well, now we have it!
The Loch Melfort hotel is just as delightful as it was for us in July last year, when it was our first escape from Edinburgh. Dinner was excellent, and because we could drink with dinner (unlike when we were at Balcary Bay, but for ‘reasons’ the less said about that the better), we did. We have a first floor room, with an excellent sea view. If there is a tiny downside to this hotel, it is the traffic noise from the main road, which obviously travels further and more effectively across the water. There is definitely more traffic on the roads now than there was last July.
I’ve added an extra of the cross at Keil Church.
