New corners
I had to go back to Cambridge for an afternoon work call, so in the morning I cycled towards King’s Cross across North London through Stoke Newington and Islington. I realise (now) that in London you can’t just point in the general direction of a destination and arrive in the rough vicinity. When I tried that I veered hopelessly off course and had to resort to stricter navigation using my phone. But I did discover corners of London I’d never heard of, such as De Beauvoir Town. London can change so radically within metres from gritty high rise to sedate rose garden, and this is always fascinating.
Cycling is now by far and away my favourite mode of transport in London, followed by, in order of desirability, foot, bus and tube.
