Flipping Heck They Are Fast
They can go from the beak showing in the hole to out of shot in the blink of an eye - literally. There seems to be no acceleration - they just come out at full speed. It is the same going in - there is no pausing on the peg the wings get folded as they go in at full speed. They must just about have worn out the back wall of the box from hitting it.
I spent ages trying to get a decent flight shot (I haven't got one yet) ... but I have cracked it with the empty frame. I have dozens of them.
The hedge between us and next door got cut. It is amazing how much it had grown since we went away at the beginning of the week.
Then I cleared out a load of algae and weed from the pond. It takes ages to rescue the tadpoles that are stupid enough to swim towards and into the weed you are agitating. Have they never heard of 'Run away to fight another day'?
That bit of gardening set off the back so after lunch I sat and processed pictures and caught up on various things.
