The Martyrs of Wigtown
In 1685 two inhabitants of Wigtown in Dumfries and Galloway were executed here by being tied to stakes at this point. Then the tide came in on the Solway Firth. The two Margaret's, one an older woman and one a young girl refused to give up their Presbyterian faith and conform to the belief that the English King was head of the Church - not their divine god.
Life was cruel in those days and not much better now for many people on this planet.
Wigtown is a book town. So parallels here with Hay on Wye where I see Eye-catching has been visiting.
We live in parallel worlds.
