Landing Gear Down!
I am delighted that our suet feeder has attracted a Western Tanager! I came to know and love these little beauties when we lived in the Columbia River Gorge. They have been a less frequent sight at our current location.
I think this male might one of a nesting pair. Recently I've caught glimpses of the Tananger's bright colors darting between trees, swooping across the pond, and landing on the suet feeder. The female, with her muted green color, doesn't attract the same level of attention.
Sometimes it's the small things that bring moments of sweet joy.
