Up a tree in Lincoln

A wonderful reunion at Lincoln Elementary School of the graduating seniors who went there years ago. I hardly recognized some of them! In a class of twenty, there were eighteen girls and two boys. Isabelle climbed the playground tree she loved back then. She once took a book out to recess and read up in the tree, and when she eventually looked down it was a different class on the playground. She snuck inside to her class without the teacher noticing.

For me the highlight this morning was when the now 18-year-old girls remembered the second grade sleepover party we had at our house, for which I’d written a murder mystery role play game. They had so much fun, almost as much as W and I and my cousin and friend who helped out. It was a night of seven-year-old high drama, screaming and cat chasing and giggling. Made my day when Mattie told me she remembered playing the soccer player Katie Kick’um and said, when I walked up, that “we were just talking about that!!”

I’ve sprained my ankle somehow. Hurts like crazy. We’ll see how it is tomorrow.
