In My Woodland Garden...

In my woodland garden I have an acer, acer palmatum atropurpuream. It gives a mottled shade to the area.

This tree was given to me in a pot at about a metre high over 45 years ago. My friend, Janet, was moving and couldn't take it with her. I had a small yard where it stood in it's pot. Very soon I moved into my first house and it was planted in the garden.

When I moved, 5 years later, I didn't want to leave it so it got dug up and planted, less than half a mile away, where it has grown ever since. Now it stands 4 metres high with 5 metre spread.
