Before the Rain....
And then the rains came - but not for long. The day turned out to be sunny and really hot - so hot that we were in and out of the water swimming all afternoon! Being a Sunday, there was a lot of activity on the bay. Everyone with a jet-ski was out zipping about, boats came and went, some into our back bay to fish, music from other cottagers wafted across the water...but as evening approached, the quiet returned.
Our usual wildlife neighbours entertained us as usual..the heron was here first thing in the morning posing next to the shore as I made my way to the docks to take my blip photo, a baby muskrat scurried around in the rocks outside the porch while we ate lunch, a sandhill crane flying overhead squawked so loudly, he woke everyone up from their afternoon naps, the osprey flew in and dove for fish - unsuccessfully - while we sat on the dock, a tiger swallowtail bitterly flitted from one chive blossom to another as I read in the porch, and the beaver, as usual, swam by, and then walked up into the bush to cut leafy greens for his family's dinner just as we were contemplating ours. Our intent was take-out from a marina's waterside patio in town but, alas, they were closed. So it was burgers on the BBQ tonight. We have a whole evening ahead of us and that will include the Montreal - Winnipeg Stanley Cup playoff game on the TV...how Canadian can you get?
