I watched 'The Mauritanian' this evening.

For anyone who thinks the US has the capacity to be liberal, it was under President Obama (and, NB, Vice-President Biden) that Mohamedou Ould Slahi was kept locked up in Guantanamo for six further years after US Judge James Robertson granted a writ of habeas corpus, ordering Slahi to be released in 2010.

The moral head-fuck that for almost 20 years has allowed the US to imprison people without trial and to torture them in Cuba, of all places, is beyond my comprehension. Yes, Cuba could do with the rent while the US refuses to trade, but really...

Over three months ago President Biden 'declared it his intention' to close Guantanamo. Mind your step, Biden. We are watching.
