With or against each other
Paris is full of photo art and photo exhibitions. My highlight today was the visit to the "Amazônia" exhibition by Sebastião Salgado in the new Paris philharmonic building. Those who know Salgado appreciate the impressiveness of his pictures (extra 1). And the reason it was in the philharmonic building was, that the exhibition was accompanied by a symphony of nature by Jean-Michel Jarre.
Included were some documentary films in which the people who live in the forest explain their live (extra 2) and how worried they are, that natural resources are being destroyed from the outside and that they don't trust the present president and government of Brazil. Therefore the title of today’s blip “with or against each other”.
The picture was taken on my way there. It’s part of the work of some young artists/photographers who exhibit their work at a railway overpass.
My means of transport these days is the Parisian Velib (self-service bike hire system). All in all I spent more than 2 hours biking while crossing the city, and then back again. Afterwards a quick visit to Arc de Triomphe (extra 3). But on foot - I haven't had the courage to try it by bike in this mega-roundabout until now (nor on rental car). As far as I know, it’s the only roundabout in France where the traffic rules are different: the traffic entering the roundabout has priority! No wonder there are internet sites which explain “How to take the Étoile roundabout without dying”. If you want to see a short video, here is the link. And don’t ask me how a tourist in his car can know about it …
