Atelier Rojans 30
This is mr Willem Rojans in front of what used to be his carpenter workshop. At one time at least half a dozen worked there at the same time and maybe even more. There was enough equipment and machinery to serve a dozen. Mr Rojans worked there on his own for more than 30 years, until his retirement in August 1995. He hopes to be 79 years of age this summer.
He came to find out what the status of progress was today. He was here yesterday when the water was laid on. Gas will come in two weeks time.
Earlier this week the council imposed a building freeze. For some reason they meant to stop all work at once because the two permits they had issued were not in accordance with each other. Who has issued these permits, I wonder? After four months that we had been working and at a time when there were eight people at work. The problem was solved the next day - and the council admitted to have made a few mistakes - but all in all we were to blame for not getting in touch with them and not applying for a new permit. Not in a million years. I think it was just harassment, nothing more. It served no purpose at all. One day lost. And a lot of aggravation.

At one time we intended to build a house, big enough for Willem Rojans as well to live in. Where he had his own part of the house, even separate entrances. Because it took so long for the council to agree with our plans he was forced to look for another dwelling. Now that he's found one he doesn't want to leave there anymore.
It did give us more space to reschedule our private plans with the house. We love having visitors, so we made a few rooms with en suite facilities for that reason.
