Life through the lens...

The old Vicarage Garden.

Oh what a perfect day.
After a delicious late breakfast of smoked haddock and poached eggs, we set off to visit one of our favourite gardens.
East Ruston Old Vicarage Gardens are only a few miles from the North Norfolk Coast.
Established in 1973 by Alan Gray and Graham Robeson.
The 32 acre site has gradually been transformed from farm land to a series of the most beautiful gardens.
A shelter belt of Monterey Pines protects it from the harsh onshore winds. So the unique micro-climate enables them to grow exotic plants and flowers, including tree ferns and palm trees.
Although there were quite a lot of cars we seemed to have the place almost to ourselves.
At one point we sat in the shade overlooking the sunken garden. Watching the dragonflies darting here and there, listening to only the birds and the splashing of the fountain.
Not a sole in sight. Truly magical, and so peaceful.
We only stayed for a couple of hours as it was beginning to get very hot. Finished off with tea and cakes before we drove along the coast road back to our B&B. Collecting some ice cream on the way which we ate sat in the shade when we got back.
I did purchase a lily to take home, ( A future blip!). and also bought one to give to Allison, who loves gardening too.

Our evening meal was at The Moorings in Blakeney. ( favourite restaurant in Norfolk)
After a delicious meal which included sea trout, local picked samphire, and cockles, we had a walk along the inlet out towards the sea, and watched the little sailing boats coming back.
Such a beautiful evening. Really didn’t want to leave. ( see extra)
What a fabulous end to our four night break.
