Hereford Cathedral
We met up with Essex friends today who are walking the Wye Valley Way over 14 days. They travelled to Chepstow by train on Saturday and today arrived in Hereford.
It’s a destination ( an hour from us ) we’d tried to get to before lockdown on the quest to visit all English cathedrals but had a thwarted train journey.
I’ve been before a few times when my youngest son was a choir boy at his prep school and sung Evensong there but my OH hadn’t. I’d raved about the Mappa Mundi, the 13c interpretation of the world illustrated on vellum.

And it didn’t disappoint. We also visited the Chained library containing a 9c book ( mind boggling) as well as the cathedral itself, which is beautiful.
We then met our friends as they came into Hereford and enjoyed a lovely outside lunch by the river Wye with them, before they headed off to catch the cathedral before closing time. They’ve inspired us to do some of the WVW ourselves.
Home for a quick tea before going to see Nomadland tonight.
Taken using the wide angle lens on my phone.
