Ashley Rivermouth....
.....so many changes, unbelievable!
We're now looking at a newly formed rivermouth with an island in the middle. The old rivermouth used to be on the other side of the island which we could easily walk to. The island will be a great nesting and resting spot for birds but photographing them will be almost impossible unless we have a row boat, yeah can't see that happening haha
Moving up the river into the estuary I found eroded sand dunes taller than I, lots of deep pools full of water showing how violent the river was when in flood and some new shingle braids. It was difficult to walk as the silt was thick and slippery, I turned around on reaching the estuary and retraced my steps back to the rivermouth and then along the beach.
This is an area in which I've blipped often, there are some extras which show how much this area has changed, it's devastating, heartbreaking, like an earthquake has ripped through it, but two weeks ago mother nature was wild, what was once a serene, easily accessible area has become a lot more challenging, will be interesting to see how it evolves.
Friday....mostly cloudy, calm, 12C, a great day for a discovery.
Have a great weekend everyone :)
