Fiordland Friday

As a composition I wish I had been directly behind him  but too late now.  I think the lone photographer making the best of the scene stands for this tourist town making the best of the situation.  Before Covid there would have been visitors wandering the lake edge and taking many photos.  Across the lake should be scenic mountains but the cloud is down and I suspect it has been all day.  A friend who used to live here says this is common in winter.  We are now in Te Anau for a few days.  The lovely daughter has collected her car and is making good progress on her lone drive back to Christchurch.  We walked the town looking for dinner opitions and i have to say the town looks quiet and sad.  Several businesses  have closed signs and the big hotel on the lake front is closed.  There aren't the overseas tourists to fill it.  When I have been here before there was always a mix of languages and a bustle of people.
Once we left the coast this morning the cloud increased so any opportunites for sheep in front of mountains disappeared.
