Over-engineered?

The golf club are building a humungous fence down the side of their driving range. You can see some of the logic as a well worn path runs alongside the fairway. But the height of this fence defies belief. I have some concern as my favourte oak tree is down the other end, but I can see no logic in the fence being extending that far. My extra shot is of the canal.
