Another Oma & Opa day ...... what a privilege! So the usual mix of joyful, playful chaos.

Play, lit:

Play is the work of children. It consists of those activities performed for self-amusement that have behavioural, social, and psychomotor rewards. It is child-directed, and the rewards come from within the individual child; it is enjoyable and spontaneous.

Play is a free activity standing quite consciously outside ‘ordinary’ life as being ‘not serious,’ but at the same time absorbing the player intensely and utterly. It is an activity connected with no material interest, and no profit can be gained by it. It proceeds within its own proper boundaries of time and space according to fixed rules and in an orderly manner.

Play is activity that is (a) “desired” by the child, (b) “always involves an imaginary situation,” and (c) “always involves rules”
