Blanket Bog , RSPB reserve .

This RSPB reserve lies along one of the glens that links Helmsdale to Melvich, a place where Hen Harriers are often sighted , though not on our watch. { we spotted sea eagles a week or so later which made up for the lack of HH0)

Blanket Bog is in the news a lot at the moment as it has an immense capacity to store carbon as it forms. Landowners will be paid , from the public purse, to let the land return to its natural state of bogginess as one way of addressing the problems of climate change .
