Quay Quarter Tower from Loftus Lane
This photo / angle is not really doing the new Quay Quarter Tower any justice - it's the building peaking through at the end of the lane. The site used to be one of the most obvious and unattractive buildings in Sydney. A black box of a thing. This new one is destined to become one of our most unusual and striking. Time will tell - I'm liking what I'm seeing so far.
Tonight we managed to get away from our incredibly busy home life (tons of work and aging parents) to a one hour un-amplified concert in the small Utzon Room at the Sydney Opera House. MOZART String Quartet No.19, Dissonance and SHOSTAKOVICH String Quartet No.9. Chalk and cheese but as fantastic as ever. A muso friend of ours put us onto these "cocktail hour" concerts a couple of years ago and I've never looked back. It never seems to matter what they play - just being in the same small room makes it a buzz.
