Door

The builders arrived at 8 to finish the hole. The door man arrived at 8.45 and the hole wasn’t ready. Don’t worry he says and went back to his van. He was right, by 9.15 the builders had packed up and gone again. The door man worked for hours but it is pretty much in, the builders are back next week to make good the surrounds!

The structural engineer arrived at lunchtime to look at lintels. MrRoly viewed various bits with him but the long story short is that the mortar has gone in the brick ‘arches’ of the failed upstairs lintels. They can be replaced like for like but as it’s rendered, he suggests just putting concrete lintels in. The brick cupboard in the kitchen can go without any issue and the internal cracks are probably old water damage because the roof is in good condition.

To celebrate I had coffee with Christine where we discussed the G7 circus and put the world to rights!
