Early start to observe the electrical work in our server room from afar. All worked well and we got to switch on all our computers in the afternoon which also worked without any major problems. I did have to go in and press the buttons because the remote control interface didn't have a network address because the DHCP server were also switched off. Grr, lesson learned. It did make switching on all the machines a lot easier as pressing a single button is quicker than typing in commands and passwords.
Rowan and I went for a lovely walk in the morning. I wanted to check out the new RebelBear graffiti that appeared in Reid's Close yesterday. They don't seem to last particularly long. I was sad to see the shoe shop on the Royal Mile to close down (see extra). The Royal Mile used to have some actually useful shops. Most of them are now either Cafes or shops selling tourist tat. I do think the tourist aspects of Edinburgh (and any other hot destination) needs to be strongly regulated. Otherwise parts of town will become no-go areas.
