Farm Day
The South Carolina Department of Agriculture has a month long farm tour going on now where local farms open up for people to visit. They also have local artists that are painters, potters, woodworkers, etc at the farms that are open. So today my friend Risee and I decided to visit the farms near us that were open.
The first place we went was the local alpaca farm. Alpacas are the cutest things!! There were also llamas there and Great Pyrenees dogs to protect the herd from coyotes. There was a store that had many items made from alpaca yarn with were so incredibly soft. I did purchase a pair of fingerless gloves to use this winter. They are made differently from the other fingerless gloves I have and I think I will like them better for holding the camera in cold weather.
The next farm was a cattle and goat farm. We did not stay there long as it was beginning to get hot but we did visit the artists there. Some interesting art. At the next stop we were excited as they had fields of zinnias that you could buy to take home and a selection of home baked breads and cakes as well as fresh strawberries, blueberries and other produce. I did get some things here also..the bread is really good!
We then stopped at a little store that was sort of a junk store but also a gift shop. We spent an hour talking to the owner and her husband as well as another gentleman who was there. They were so nice and friendly. She had some really appealing items and I did find two tiny bottles to add to my growing collection of little vases and bottles.
We were going to go by the vineyard on the way home for a frozen wine drink but we decided it was too hot to leave strawberries and fresh bread in the car so we came home. A good day in spite of the heat.
We did get another rain shower today which makes seven straight days that it has rained either a sprinkling or a downpour. We got the downpour today.
Have a good weekend blippers!!
