Learning Shirret
Continuing from my blip of March 7th, I started this sampler today to learn the Art of Shirret. My wife has been cutting strips from her stash to use in my adventure. It is a crochet technique combined with shirred folds of fabric. It stands on edge, so it gives a very soft look to the colors. This one has five rows completed. It has a very soft and plush feel and will be nice for small rugs. It is reversible and completely washable, depending on the fabric you use. These are permanent press fabrics, so should wash beautifully. It is a good way to use up small scraps of fabric. You can also recycle old clothes, denim jeans, and all sorts of other fabrics. When finished, it will have a border all the way around to neaten up the edges. Stay tuned!
