I'm choosing to think some people just don't know how to look after places. 
Remains of a fire at the base of a pine tree, on the tinder dry pine needle floor. Poorly extinguished on a breezy day meant this was still an actual fire when I went past. And was well down into the soil. 
Well publicised wildfire up in cairngorm last week started in a similar way. 
Still, nice bit of real.life learning for my d of e students.
