Orchid

I had a successful morning shopping for odds and ends for the house in Basingstoke, and then took the scenic route home to stop off at Bassetts Mead for a picnic lunch and a wander.

My lunch was eaten by the side of the River Whitewater, where I was entertained by more Beautiful Demoiselle damselflies than I have ever seen before in one place ... unfortunately they were also rather active so getting a decent shot (extra) proved a little difficult!

I then took the circular walk round this small SANG, mainly consisting of meadowland over flood plains. I found this lovely specimum of orchid near to one of the numerous paths; possibly a common or heath spotted orchid.
