Village People

Students are still AWOL today, so I took the chance to visit the fading village I talked about the other day.

It's a very interesting place, and I took a lot of photographs, and although I wanted to write a lot too, it's late and I'm tired.
So instead here's a link to an album of what I took today.
I'm possibly shooting myself in the foot a little with the album, as a lot of the stuff could be a future blip, but i was so taken with the atmosphere in the village that I wanted to share more, rather than just discard ninety percent of what I took.

The village is not a full on ghost town - although I'd say almost three quarters of the buildings stand crumbling. Some are in fantastic, recently renovated condition, and it looks as though a couple have been knocked down entirely and then rebuilt in a newer, more modern (but much less beautiful) style.
I think what can sometimes happen in areas like these is that the houses become virtually unsellable (traditional houses are not popular in Korea, even those in a good location) and so if you live in one and have a few quid, your only option is to modernize it and stay, even if you'd rather move.

Old Time, that greatest and longest established spinner of all!.... his factory is a secret place, his work is noiseless, and his hands are mutes.
