Nobody Home

Inevitably, we were away from home the day the dragonfly emerged.

We came back fro Devon a little early, as the weather there was deteriorating rapidly and the cameras at home showed nothing but sun sun sun. In the margins in the garden pond, I found this chap. At first I was very excited... without glasses I was sure he was still emerging and he was in fact moving slightly in the warm breeze. Preliminary camera shots revealed however that he had been, and gone.

I'd hazard it was a broad bodied chaser?
