Orangery
The Orangery, which has rich Jacobean detailing on a raised dais, was designed by William Burns and built around 1852 to grow exotic fruits for the Duke of Buccleuch at Dalkeith House. To this end there was a condenser heating system in the vaulted cellar. Nowadays the Roman Doric columns are devoid of glass. The building has been newly repaired and repurposed as a venue for hire for a variety of functions such as weddings or parties throughout summer.
