Some snapshots of Canon Street Baptist Church.
I photographed Canon Street Baptist Church as I was in Accrington this afternoon walking home to get the train. This spot is quite near Tesco Express and the railway station.
The rain was gentle and it was quite cold compared to recent much colder weather. I am still wrapped up in several layers when I venture outdoors.
Yet inspite of the inspiring architecture, the years when this building was used for Church activities and worship for God, are sadly now just an impression of the past and treasured memories for those whose Church it once was, for these reasons.
The dilapitation is apparent and windows are clearly bordered up.
The lack of light in there is difficult to think on.
Such a tragic yet awe inspiring set of design ideas no longer relevant to the modern needs of the Church. Tragic is perhaps the wrong word.
I felt glad to capture this set of views before it is no more.
Sad today and glad to be home in relative warmth.
Have a better time all you blippers!!
