There's Nothing on the Tele(scope)
The telescope reference is because today Henry and I went, with World @ Warwick, to Stratford Upon Avon to see 'The Life of Galileo' performed by the Royal Shakespeare Company. It was an excellent play that really made you think - we take for granted that the sun is the centre of the solar system and we revolve around it but at the time it was pretty revolutionary.
To think that this discovery would see someone imprisoned makes you realise the importance (dare I say gravity?) of what was being said and the censorship enforced by the Cardinal Inquisitors.
A couple of excellent quotes from the play:
'Truth is the child of time, not of authority.'
and
Why try to be so clever when we can finally be a little less stupid.

Today: A lazy start followed by some project working, surprising Eve in the learning grid by turning up armed with tea as she was fighting through a lab report and then picking up a hire car for me to drive to Oxford (see tomorrow's blip for details) and then to the globe for RSC's performance. Stratford is a very pretty town.

The picture - pretty funky, I think. A long exposure done without a tripod; I like the notion of everyone filing into their seats right before the performance starts. This doesn't capture the whole theatre that nicely, but I think you can get a scope for it. I took a few others from different perspectives too.
