Why?

Another day, another walk by the sea. Warm and overcast  with odd sunny intervals but dry!!

These 2 figures have recently appeared painted on the Hoe below the Citadel. It appears they are Gogmagog - a mythical giant and Corineus the Trojan who defeated him. I can't quite see the connection with the city or even the country, but hopefully somebody might know?
