It's a Charisma-Off!

My Dear Princess and Dear Friends,

You see what happens when you pull faces at the camera, Shenée?

In the extras, you see my respected and highly professional project manager face-deep in a bowl of cookies and cream ice cream.

This was after a lovely lunch, cooked by Shahier, and fun games with Zaydaan and Haniah. The Fazzi Whānau have got Wii Sports so I got invited over for Wii Bowling and Wii Tennis.

And - HMPH - somehow Shenée INVEIGLED her way in there as well.

So it turned into a COMPETITION between Shenée and myself over who could WIN Fazzi's children. I thought I had it in the bag. I turned up with GIFTS. I got huge HUGS. I was doing all the THINGS.

Then Shenée turns up. And it was LIKE I WASN'T EVEN IN THE ROOM.

I was FORGOTTEN. And Haniah even RE-GIFTED a bracelet she had given ME, to her Auntie Shenée. Who, naturally made AN OBSCENE AMOUNT OF FUSS about it, waving her wrist at me and flicking her hair.

"Hmmmm.... looks cheap," I said.

Then added, "Suits you."

BURN.

However, I must grudgingly admit, Shenée is a LOT of fun. She played a dinosaur game with Haniah, while at the same time as Wii bowling AND doing a kitten jigsaw.

So I was fairly and squarely outplayed. And really, who can blame those children?

I mean. Just look at that face.

Nevertheless Uncle Symon had another wonderful time in the company of Fazzi's beautiful family. We looked at her wedding photos and we chatted and laughed and were likely even more childish in our humour than 5 year olds.

Shenée found it amusing that Shahier and Fazzi often refer to Zaydaan as just "Boy". As in, "very good boy" when he got a strike in the bowling, or "watch out boy" when he was in danger of getting hit by an overenthusiastic player.

"Sounds like he just stepped into a bar in the Southern US," laughed Shenee.

Then she adopted a ridiculous redneck accent, "Watch owwwt bow-ah!" she said. (Please do read that in your best Boss Hogg or Sheriff P. Coltrane voice).

This threw Shahier off completely. "Watch out b- " he began. Then he corrected himself. "That just sounds so wrong now. Watch out.... son."

I have to say Shenée was actually on excellent form. As I mentioned yesterday, she LOVES games and was so in her element today.

"Who would've thought this is where we would end up?" I mused, as Shenée, Fazzi and I sorted through jigsaw pieces to try and find a bit of kitten ear.

Not me. I marvel still at how lucky I am.

And afterward Craig, Shenée and I had a good laugh as they dropped me off in Paraparaumu. I told them they could drop by any time, they need no excuse.

I really mean it too. The Fazzi Whānau is expanding with uncles and aunties. Even if Shenée is everyone's favourite.

Still smarting over that. But it's FINE. But still smarting.

S.
