Leaving Waterville
Just back from an action-packed week in Waterville, County Kerry. Waterville itself is an odd place - a huge blustery pebble strand with not a lot else going on. It's main claim to fame is that Charlie Chaplin once holidayed here!
The pace has been hectic. We took in:
12 holy wells (9 new ones)
1 holy lake
1 holy island (a proper adventure!)
2 shrines
numerous churches
1 castle
2 abbeys
and managed two serious hikes- ones up to Eagle Hill and the other around a massive spit at Rossbeigh, where a swim was also taken. We have been to some extremely off piste places and I have a severely peeling nose and three tick bites. Back blips following at some point. I can't wait for a bath!
