Fishing
Having never visited Berwick on Tweed before we decided to combine shopping for supplies with exploring the town. I found the history of the walls along with LS Lowry’s fondness for the town fascinating.
A walk along the Tweed produced this fine Heron looking for lunch. The extra is of the extensive and very solid town walls. I was particularly taken with the fact they took twelve years to build costing £128,648 (almost 40 million today) - the single biggest expenditure of Elizabeth’s reign.
Thank you for following my adventures in the Borders
