No Steamers Today

The pier at Tighnabruaich on the Cowal penisula dates back to 1830's.

The development of regular services by Clyde paddle steamers and puffers made 'Tigni' the go to place for Glasgow business people desiring a 'Des Res' away from the smoke filled city.

Perhaps not a commuter town but certainly one that the business families would debunk to for the summer as evidenced by the substantial houses built around the waterfront.

The pier now is used only occasionally and notably by the last Clyde paddle steamer PS Waverley.

Tighnabruaich today remains a favorite bolt hole for the business community.
